A 1984 graduate of the prestigious California Culinary Institute, San Francisco, Tom began his restaurant apprenticeship while still in high school in Eugene, Oregon. Gaining experience by working in various restaurants in Eugene, San Francisco, and Aspen, Colorado, Tom returned to Eugene in 1987 where he joined the Oregon Electric Station and soon became the Executive Chef in 1988.
